So the Olympics have come and gone. I caught a fair amount of them, but wasn't too enthralled. Living in a place where winter sports can take place only one month out of the year, and only in the northern part of the state, tends to limit my interests. My mother often speaks of growing up in Washington State and skating on frozen ponds and playing in the snow... Me? I get to tell my children about, um, how it was 80 degrees on Christmas day, and I haven't seen snow fall in ten years.
I think I only find out about these things by accident. If not for the occasional glimpse of a commercial, I'd have never known about the Winter Olympics. This happens with everything in my life. I think I give off an aura of not caring that is so great, people won't mention even the largest events that are going on in the world around them. I'm just happy to find out that I knew about an event before it was over.
