Maybe I should be trying to entertain you. Then again, maybe not. Who is to say. Either way, I do have something to share with everyone.
Heather and I just got into the Rift Beta (it's not hard to do, btw) and have spent a day or so playing. So far it has been really fun. I'm not sure how much of that fun is the "Trying something different" kind of fun, but I've enjoyed it either way. The soul system (their classes) works really well and I feel it adds a lot to the game. I look forward to trying out different combinations to see what works well for me.
The only downsides I've been seeing have been issues finding crafting trainers in the starting area and a little bit of a slow response time in relation to key presses. I'm hoping those are just beta issues and the game won't go live like that. Heather also pointed out that we seem to be leveling really fast. In a few hours of playtime, we have hit level eleven. It doesn't seem to be slowing down that much so far and the games level cap is fifty. If their end game is lacking, that could be a bad thing if everyone levels too fast. This beta event is open until tomorrow, so I won't be able to really test out all I want right away and will have to wait until the next beta event to keep plugging along. In case you were wondering, the game launches on March 1st.
