There are a few things that Reese prides himself on. Tech knowledge is of course at the top of the list but only a rung or two down is his ability to find and obtain the best quality for cost equation. He doesn't boast per-say but I know more about the finances of his wedding then any respectable best man should.
I will say though, it is an impressive feat to watch, it's not really haggling, it's research. I had the pleasure of going to buy a car with Reese once. For every "plausibility" the salesman threw Reese's way, Reese would pull a slip of paper out of his manila folder to prove the salesman wrong. Three hours later the salesman gave up and Reese walked away with a screaming deal. I think at the end of it all the salesman had an irrational fear of that folder.
So I guess the equation breaks down to half research and half endurance with a smidgen of stubbornness.

I think the contents of the last weeks comic irked Reese more then Heather for this reason. I expected the "it's not like that" from Heather, but instead I got it from Reese and a "So, true" from Heather.
I would like to make it very clear here, Heather has been the one who has done most of the savvy shopping. I've found a few things, but for the most part she is the one making this happen at a very reasonable price, as far as weddings (and cars) go.
