Ah, the continuation of the story like thing I attempt every once in a while. I actually have this little stint planned out, so it should go a little more smoothly then my first attempt.

This past Wednesday the Sequential Art League (comic book club at school) had a guest speaker from the industry. Dave Beaty from Bushi Tales came and talked to a us about his experiences working on a number of comic book projects. Much love and appreciation to him for his time and knowledge.

I had many inclinations to do a comic on a few different subjects this week. First is the death of Steve Irwin. This news hit me surprisingly hard. I had never met the man, obviously, but such a character he was that I doubt there's a person that saw him that didn't have their lives affected by him in at least some small way. The other is the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of, September 11th today.

There is one specific reason I did not do a comic on either of these subjects. I have a morbid sense of humor, as I'm sure most of you do as well, and these are two extremely touchy subjects. I mean just listen to the chat in WoW and you can tell. There was a three hour conversation in /lookingforgroup about how Steve Irwin would kick Chuck Norris's ass... (which admittedly would have been a cool comic)

To prove my point, this is the first sketch I did for a 9-11 comic I did for my college paper the first anniversary. I mean... do buildings go to heaven?

Building

Or when my 7th grade class was drawing pictures for the Oklahoma City bombing and I draw a bomb with the text "Time's Not Up Yet". To me... perfectly nice, I mean the bomb wasn't exploded or nothing... needless to say, I drew another picture, with some rainbows... or something. That's when I realized my humors not for everyone, and sometimes I should just keep it to myself.

I have to agree with Vance on just one lesson that everyone should learn in life, to keep some things to themselves. I used to have a tendency to speak my mind as soon as a thought popped into my head. Needless to say, this caused many issues in general, but quite a few specifically at school (although many things I said I still believe to be quite funny). That is probably why Vance ends up writing the comics. We all know he draws them because I can't, but the writing stays in his court due to the fact that I've attained the habit of censoring my thoughts. Sometimes I think about just carrying a notebook with me and writing down my ideas so they too may one day appear in comic form. I have a wierd sense of humor though so I don't know if they would be well received. We shall see what happens...
